How it works

A transparent trade: effort in, screen time out.

STEP 1

Do real-life things

A walk. A chapter. Ten minutes of tidying. Pick from our task library or create your own healthy power ups.

STEP 2

Earn brain points

Every completed task tops up your brain points. No tricks, no streak guilt — just honest effort, rewarded.

🔓
STEP 3

Unlock your apps

Spend points to open TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. When the points run out, the scroll stops. Fair deal.

See it in action

Straight from the app: your brain-coin balance, and the real-life tasks that fill it.

Why it actually works

Not magic — just behavioral science, applied with a sense of humor.

Friction beats willpower

You don’t doomscroll because you’re weak — you doomscroll because it’s the easiest thing your thumb can do. Add a small toll booth in front of the feed and the autopilot loop breaks. Willpower never even has to show up.

Earned rewards feel different

Screen time you paid for with a walk doesn’t come with the post-scroll guilt. You watched your videos and read a chapter today. The reward system in your head starts wiring effort to pleasure again.

Every task is a vote

Habits stick when they change who you think you are. Each completed task is a small vote for “person who reads” over “person who refreshes.” Cast enough votes and the election isn’t close.

What is a gamified app blocker?

A regular app blocker says no. A gamified app blocker says "earn it." BrainWin blocks the apps that eat your attention — TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, games, anything you choose — and turns access into a reward with a price tag. Real-life effort earns brain points; brain points buy screen time. The blocking is real, system-level and strict, but the experience feels like playing a game rather than serving a sentence.

An app blocker that pays you back

Every screen time app can show you a scary usage graph. BrainWin changes the number instead. Blocked apps cost brain points to open, and the only mint for those points is your real life: a morning walk, twenty pages of a book, a workout, ten minutes of tidying. Effort in, screen time out — a fair exchange rate you set yourself.

The payoff is guilt-free scrolling. When you have earned your feed with a walk, the scroll is a reward, not a relapse — and the post-scroll shame spiral that kills most screen time reduction attempts never starts.

Blocking that actually holds

BrainWin enforces blocks with Apple’s own Screen Time (FamilyControls) framework — the system-level machinery parental controls use. No VPN tricks, no notification-nagging, no "Remind me in 15 minutes" escape hatch. When your points run out, iOS itself keeps the blocked apps shut until you earn more.

And it all happens on your iPhone. No account, no ads, no trackers, no usage data leaving the device. For an app whose whole job is to protect your attention, staying out of the attention-harvesting business is table stakes.

From doomscrolling to done-lists

Run the loop for a month and the ledger tells the story: walks taken, chapters read, rooms cleaned, workouts done — and the scrolling compressed into earned windows instead of leaking across every evening. Two reclaimed hours a day is fifteen books a year, a couch-to-5k, or just sleep before midnight.

That is the actual product of a gamified app blocker: not less phone, more life. The feeds are still there when you have earned them. The difference is that now they are the dessert, not every meal.

Questions, answered

How does BrainWin block apps?+

Through Apple’s own Screen Time (FamilyControls) framework — the same system parental controls use. Blocking happens entirely on your iPhone; no VPN tricks, no traffic snooping, and your usage data never leaves the device.

Can’t I just delete the app and scroll anyway?+

Sure — and that’s the point. BrainWin isn’t a prison, it’s friction. Deleting an app, reinstalling it, and re-granting permissions takes long enough for your rational brain to catch up with your thumb. Most urges don’t survive a 30-second delay.

What counts as a healthy task?+

Anything that’s good for you and takes real effort: a walk, twenty pages of a book, meditation, homework, tidying your room. Pick from the built-in library or create your own tasks with custom point values.

Is my data private?+

Yes. Your tasks, points and blocking rules stay on your device. The only things we ever receive are feature requests and feedback you actively send — and those are anonymous. No account, no ads, no trackers.

Is BrainWin on Android?+

iPhone first. The app leans on iOS-only screen-time APIs, so an Android version is a bigger project — tell us you want it on the feature board and vote it up!

Can I block websites too, or only apps?+

Both. BrainWin can put Safari web domains behind the same brain-point lock as apps, so the mobile-web backdoor to your blocked feeds is covered too.

What happens when I try to open a blocked app?+

iOS shows the shield screen instead of the app. To get in, you open BrainWin and spend earned brain points for a timed unlock window — when it ends, the shield returns automatically.

Is this gamified app blocker good for studying and work hours?+

Very. Many users block social apps during the day and set task values so that a study session or deep-work block earns their evening entertainment. The block does the discipline; you do the work.

How much does BrainWin cost?+

BrainWin is free to download with a Pro subscription for unlimited blocking, and yearly plans work out to well under a coffee per month. Check the app for current pricing — and compare it against what two reclaimed hours a day are worth to you.

Does BrainWin drain my battery?+

No. Blocking runs through Apple’s Screen Time framework at the system level — there is no VPN tunnel, no background traffic filtering, and no always-on process burning battery in the background.

Ready to unrot your routine?

Your feed will still be there. The question is whether you will be.
